Breaking Down the Shanghai/Capella Upgrade

Since the Ethereum blockchain’s first implementation launched in 2015, it has undergone a series of planned technical upgrades, also known as forks. Each of these upgrades has brought the Ethereum vision – to be a decentralized, scalable, secure, and permissionlessly programmable blockchain – further into focus.

After delivering a successful Merge in September 2022, the Ethereum Core Devs are rallying behind the next planned upgrade to the roadmap—the Shanghai/Capella upgrade. It is doubly named because it is the first simultaneous upgrade of Ethereum’s execution layer and consensus layer. It is highly anticipated because it will enable staked ETH withdrawals.

With the Shanghai/Capella upgrade tentatively set to release in March, ConsenSys has launched The Ultimate Guide to ETH Staking Withdrawals report.
